Dr. Christie Maloyed
I am an assistant professor in political science at the University of Nebraska Kearney. I earned my Ph.D. in Political Science from Texas A&M University in 2010, and my bachelors from Emory & Henry College.
My research and teaching focus on religion and politics, history of political theory, American and Scottish political thought, and civic education.
In my spare time, you can find me training for my next race, reading post-apocalyptic novels, cooking vegetarian cuisine, sipping fine micro-brews, or walking my dog Argos.
Marshall Dorr
Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls, it is your great honor and privilege that you get to bear witness to this, possibly the greatest author bio the world has ever seen! Hey I'm totally kidding but here's just a sliver of what there is to know about me. I was born and raised in the country near North Platte, NE but I went to grades K-12 to Hershey High School in Hershey, NE. I loved every part of being in a small school, from the fact where you knew everyone and everyone knew you, to the great relationships you formed with your teachers, some of whom I still keep in contact with. My parents are Brian and Stephanie Dorr and I have three older siblings: Taylor, Turner and Marguerite. Living in the country in central Nebraska, I could tentatively peg myself as coming from a semi-conservative family background but I can't be sure. As far as some of my interests, I absolutely love reading. It's been one of my favorite activities since I was a child and I don't think I'll ever grow out of it. In any case, I don't think I want to. I love sports as well. I am a huge tennis fan! Probably the biggest you've ever or will ever meet! I live to watch the Grand Slam Tourneys on TV but would love to go to all of them someday. I also enjoy golf as well as fitness swimming. Did I mention I'm a huuuuuuuge nerd? Well no you know. I'm in love with the iconic series such as Lord of the Rings, Star Wars and Harry Potter. Now as far as this class and the content we will cover, I'm as a newborn would be. I have never had much experience with politics or the different forms of government. I can't tell you which political party I am because I don't know. Heck, I probably can't even tell you the main differences between the right and left sides of the aisle. I hope to learn a lot about our country and our way of government this semester and I'm excited to hear all of my fellow classmates' views on different issues that may come up in the time we spend together in class. I hope now you know a little more about me and where some of my views will come from in the following months. And now for some parting words, may the force be with you.
Cody Dreier
My name is Cody Dreier and I am a Freshman at UNK studying wildlife biology. About 95% of my political knowledge comes from the Daily Show and Colbert Report. I have little interest in politics so most of my topics will probably come from Comedy Central or from a few wildlife articles that have been e-mailed to me. A few fun facts about me are that I am an Eagle Scout, a certified scuba diver, and love racquetball.
